Hello, Aaron. I took the picture you believe to be Photoshopped. It is not. Nor is the person on the right Shawna from Effie Yeaw, but but Racine Barton from the California Raptor Center. Effie Yeaw does not have a Swainson’s Hawk, the species Racine is holding. Effie Yeaw was also at the State Fair on days CRC was not, and they made quite a hit. As did CRC. I wrote up our participation, and that is why CRC got the article. Sorry you got confused!

Hello Aaron: The caption we published in the print edition reads: “California Raptor Center volunteers Christine Adams, left, with Sophie, a saw-whet owl, and Racine Barton, right, with Grasshopper, a Swainson’s hawk, greeted visitors last week at Cal Expo’s Discovery Island at the California State Fair.” The photo was submitted to us by a Raptor Center volunteer, and I have no reason to believe it was Photoshopped or otherwise tampered with. Very strange photo; on the left is Christine Adams from the CA Raptor Center, but on the right is Shawna (sorry, don’t remember her last name) from the Effie Yeaw Nature Center, also showing birds for the Fish & Wildlife Service at the fair. The photos were taken on totally different days, and so a very interesting photoshop job. Would be nice if the Davis Enterprise would give some props to Effie Yeaw as well.
