Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig has been honored with the Calvin E. Handy Leadership Award at UC Davis for his efforts promoting diversity awareness.

The award was created in 2005, in an effort to honor Chief Emeritus Calvin E. Handy’s service to the UCD community as chief of the UCD Police Department from 1993 until 2005, and to continue his legacy of public service and leadership.

Handy was the first person to receive the award for his work sustaining successful practices, developing new programs and cultivating relationships among individuals, groups and organizations. He helped foster an environment where the community participated in, and made a contribution to, its own safety and security.

The award recognizes an individual community member, group or organization who, through leadership actions, has made significant contributions in the area of public safety and security to the campus, UCD Health System or to the surrounding communities.
Reisig was honored along with recipients of the campus’ Diversity and Principles of Community Achievement Award at the annual “Soaring to New Heights” ceremony on May 15 at Freeborn Hall.
