The Poetry Night Reading Series will provide a launching spot for a new issue of The Blue Moon Literary and Art Review, the locally produced journal that features multiple genres of writing and visuals.
Part holiday party, part celebration of the new publication, and part reading, tonight’s event will begin at 8 p.m. at the John Natsoulas Gallery, 521 First St. in downtown Davis. All are welcome.
The event will feature readings from short stories by Carolyn Waggoner and Brian Helt, as well as poetry by Gayle Beede. All three authors appear in the current issue of The Blue Moon Literary and Art Review.
Launched in 2007 by University of the Pacific professor Scott Evans, the review has offered readers high-quality work in a variety of genres by local and faraway authors. Readers will find poetry, short fiction, essays and even full-length chapters of future novels.
The Poetry Night Reading Series meets on the first and third Thursdays of every month at the Natsoulas gallery. An open mic will follow the featured poets at about 9 p.m., with spots available to those who come early to sign up. The after-party begins at about 10 p.m.
