Yolo County Sheriff Ed Prieto speaks Tuesday morning at the dedication ceremony for Tony Diaz Drive, the main road leading to the Sheriff’s Department campus off East Gibson Road in Woodland, which has been named for the slain deputy. Members of the Yolo County Board of Supervisors and law enforcement representatives from throughout the county attended the ceremony. Diaz, 37, was fatally shot on June 15, 2008, following a high-speed pursuit of a drunken driving suspect in Dunnigan. Building addresses on Tony Diaz Drive will reflect Diaz’s badge number, 140. “This road dedication honoring Tony will keep him in our thoughts,” a Sheriff’s Department news release said.
