Retirees to hear from genealogist

By From page A11 | May 02, 2013

Lisa Henderson, president of the Davis Genealogy Club, will speak at a meeting Thursday, May 9, of the Yolo County chapter of the Retired Public Employees’ Association. The group will meet at 11:30 a.m. at Cracciolo’s Banquet Hall, 1320 E. Main St. in Woodland.

Reservations are due by Friday. The cost is $5 for members and $14 for guests; call Elizabeth Kemper at 530-666-4059.

Henderson holds an MBA from UC Davis and worked as a business marketing consultant. She became interested in genealogy when relatives asked for help in finding a “missing link” in their own heritage. That led to involvement with the Davis club and enthusiasm to share methods of research with others.

RPEA is the only retiree group representing all state, county, city, classified school and special district groups receiving benefits from CalPERS. A new member classification has been added, allowing future annuitants to participate and support the group’s efforts.

Questions may be answered on the website, www.rpea.com, or by contacting Jill Brooks at 530-668-9522.
