The Woodland Library Rose Club will host its 20th annual Rose Garden Tour from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at seven local locations, featuring a bevy of beautiful rose bushes.
In addition to the visual and sensual pleasures of freshly blooming springtime blossoms, visitors will be treated to the tempting tastes of Yolo County wines, artisan cheeses, olive oil, handmade chocolates, locally roasted coffee and home-grown walnuts, as well live music.
The event is a fundraiser for Rose Club activities, which include continued enhancement of the public rose gardens on the library grounds and public education on the health and cultivation of the ever-popular plant.
Tickets are $20 and are available in advance at The Gifted Penguin, 716 Main St., or Terry’s Hallmark, 375 W. Main St., or by calling (530) 662-4020. Tickets also will be available on the day of the tour from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Woodland Public Library Rose Gardens, 250 First St. in Woodland.
In addition to the three distinct garden areas at the library site, six local private gardens will be open for the self-guided tour, which may be viewed in any order. Driving instructions and maps are included in the tour brochure. This brochure also details the history of the individual gardens and identifies some of the specific rose species that will be seen (and smelled!).
In the event of rain, the tour will take place Sunday, May 8.
