Several members of the Rotary Club of Davis — Yvonne Clinton and Robert Mazalewski, Don and Mary Fish and Lou Below — were honored recently with Paul Harris Fellowships for their ongoing support of the Rotary Foundation.

Donations in the name of Harris, founder of Rotary International in 1906, the foundation’s humanitarian programs, primarily in the developing world. Foundation money goes toward Rotary club and district projects that improve quality of life by providing health care, clean water, food, education and other essential needs.

A major Rotary Humanitarian Program is PolioPlus, which has nearly eradicated the poliovirus worldwide.

Through its educational programs, the foundation also provides funding for some 1,200 students to study abroad each year. Grants are also awarded to university teachers to teach in developing countries and for exchanges of business and professional people.

The Rotary Club of Davis was established in 1926 and has been providing service to the local and international community ever since. Information on its programs and membership can be found at www.rotaryclubofdavis.com.
