Rotary Club seeks community project proposals

The Rotary Club of Davis is seeking applications for possible community service projects. Past successful projects have included most of the following characteristics: long-term benefit to the Davis community; hands-on participation by members of the requesting organization, when applicable; hands-on participation by the Rotary Club of Davis; and a possible degree of funding from Rotary.

Some past projects include planting the redwood trees in front of Davis High School in the 1960s, building and rehabilitating the former Boy Scout cabin at First and F streets, designing and installing the highway beautification project at the southeast corner of Covell Boulevard and Highway 113, installing a play structure at the South Davis Migrant Camp, purchasing and installing a garden bench at North Davis Elementary School, installing landscaping at the International House, purchasing and installing a sponsor sign for the Davis High School Environmental Club at its garden site, installing smoke alarm batteries annually for senior citizens, assisting with the school garden irrigation system installation at Harper Junior High, and sponsoring the service club sign at the Richards Boulevard underpass.

Interested individuals and organizations should submit written project proposals by requesting the community projects application form from Allan Telford, acting community projects chairman, at droflet.sr@gmail.com. The form may be returned via email or by mailing to: the Rotary Club of Davis, Attention: Allan Telford, P.O. Box 185, Davis CA 95617. Submissions should be returned by March 1 for consideration.
