Rotary clubs hold social reception

By April 14, 2011

The Rotary clubs of Woodland, Davis, Winters and Capay Valley are joining to host a reception at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Winters Community Center, 201 Railroad Ave.

Beverly Warner, president of the Winters Rotary Club, is chairing the event, which will begin with a social hour, featuring hors d’oeuvres, beverages and networking. The social affords non-Rotarians an opportunity to learn more about Rotary International, a service organization with 1.3 million members in more than 200 countries worldwide.

Locally, club members include a wide variety of community business owners, executives, managers, political leaders and other professionals.

The keynote speaker will be Jean Irwin, a former Rotary ambassadorial scholar. A resident of the Sacramento area, Irwin recently retired as a teacher of the deaf after, in her words, a run-in with a brain tumor. Irwin was awarded the “Service Above Self” award from Rotary International in 2009, and has spoken at more than 250 conferences worldwide.

Tickets for the event are $15 for Rotarians; guests of Rotarians are free. For more information and reservations, contact Dean Labadie at (530) 902-2070 or [email protected]
