By From page A5 | September 7, 2011

Starting Friday, Sept. 16, a popular class titled “Scientific Illustration for Home-schoolers” will be offered at the Davis Art Center on Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

This fall session focuses on the plant kingdom, and is designed for home-school students between the ages of 10 and 14. Students will use pencil, charcoal and paint to represent plants accurately, while enjoying brief daily lessons on plant anatomy.

Optional assignments will help students and home-based teachers continue learning at home.

The six-session course costs $85 for Davis Art Center members and $95 for nonmembers. Parents or home-school teachers can enroll with their child for half-price. Students provide their own art supplies.

To enroll, stop by the Davis Art Center at 1919 F St., call (530) 756-4100 or visit www.davisartcenter.org.
