DPNS has openings for pre-K pupils

By From page A4 | June 05, 2012

Davis Parent Nursery School is accepting applications for the 2012-13 school year and has openings in its pre-kindergarten session. The DPNS pre-K session is ideal for older preschoolers and younger kindergarten-eligible children.

Veteran teacher Kathy Douglas, director of the pre-K program, uses current transitional kindergarten curriculum developed specifically for the year prior to kindergarten, weaving both phonics and numeracy into DPNS’ play-centered approach.

The DPNS pre-K smaller group size of no more than 20 children and narrow age range promotes collaborative play and allows for a more active role for the children in running the classroom.

The pre-K session meets Monday through Thursday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. at DPNS’ Eighth Street campus in Central Davis. Tours are available on request.
