Textbooks available for public review

By From page A8 | May 11, 2012

The Davis Joint Unified School District has made four textbooks available for public review, preceding formal district adoption.

Members of textbook adoption committees — consisting of staff, community members, parents, and, at the high school level, students — have determined these are the titles they will recommend to the Davis Board of Education for adoption consideration.

The cost of texts will come solely from categorical funds that have been specifically designated by the California Department of Education for the purpose of purchasing instructional materials.

The titles are:

* ROP Environmental Science (grades nine to 12): “Visualizing Environmental Science” by Linda Berg, Wiley & Sons, 2010

* Academic Coaching Empowering Success (grades 10 to 12): “A Multicultural Reader, Collection Two,” Perfection Learning Corp., 2008

* AP Human Geography (grades 11 to 12): “The Cultural Landscape: An Introduction to Human Geography (9th Ed)” by James Rubenstein, Prentice Hall, 2007

* ROP Food Service (grades 10 to 12): “Culinary Essentials,” Johnson & Wales University, Glencoe/McGraw Hill, 2010

These materials are available for public review at Davis High School Library, 315 W. 14th St.
