Space is still available for the Secret Garden Bird Walk scheduled for Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. Guests are invited to visit a beautiful private garden and take a guided bird walk along a secluded stretch of Putah Creek in this benefit event for Putah Creek Council.
The Kusch family’s two-acre garden is filled with hundreds of blooming Mediterranean and native plants, perfect for enjoying tea and muffins and then checking out the many birds and other wildlife that frequent the garden and nearby creek. Organizers anticipate seeing tiny humming birds, exotic neotropical migrants and numerous beautiful resident birds.
Tickets for the Secret Garden Bird Walk are $35 for Putah Creek Council members and $40 for the public and are available at http://www.putahcreekcouncil.org. Those who are unable to register online may call Olga Garzon at (530) 219-3804.
The trail along the creek is level but fairly uneven and sturdy shoes are recommended. Bring binoculars and bird identification books if you have them; a limited number will be available to borrow.
Putah Creek Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of Putah Creek. Its “Watershed Wonders” fundraiser series explores the people and places that make Putah Creek and its community special.
