The 26th annual Lambtown USA Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6-7, at the Dixon May Fairgrounds, 655 S. First St. in Dixon.
The event will features lamb dishes and cooking demonstrations, sheep shearers removing the entire fleece from lambs in less than a minute, more than 100 craft and fiber booths, fine arts shows and sale, and merchants who offer special Lambtown products.
The wool, mohair and alpaca fleece show will feature a spinning competition. See how fleeces are judged for quality, and how wool straight from the sheep can be spun and woven into a shawl in only four hours.
Classes will teach how to spin, dye wool and knit, or how to select a fleece for your next project. A small materials fee and advanced registration are needed for most classes.
Live music from the many cultures that have contributed to the region’s lamb and wool industries will be showcased.
Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children ages 6-13. Entry tickets are automatically entered in a raffle.
