Adopt dogs, pick up bargains at the Barking Lot sale

Local residents can meet Kodiak, a 2-year-old German shepherd, and Sugar Pops, a 1-year-old Lhasa Apso, and many other dogs available for adoption at a giant Barking Lot Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 29 Palms Pet Resort, 34505 County Road 29 in Woodland. The resort is between Roads 94 and 95, a half-mile west of the Yolo County Airport.

The sale, which benefits Rotts of Friends Animal Rescue, will feature one-of-a-kind items such as a gown worn to the Academy Awards ceremony, vintage jewelry,  Bakelite cutlery, enamelware, tools and more. There will be K-9 demonstrations and hot dogs cooked up by firefighters.
