Seniors must apply soon for parcel tax reductions

Deadlines are coming up for seniors to file for parcel tax reductions related to Measures A, C and CFD #1.

The Davis Joint Unified School District no longer requires annual filing for these reductions as long as there is no change in the property ownership and the homeowner remains eligible. Those who did not receive these reductions last year must apply this year to get the discount.

The reduction applies to seniors who are 65 or older by July 1.

For Measure A, senior homeowners can save $200 for single-family homes and $20 for multi-family dwellings and mobile homes. The filing deadline is June 30.

For Measure C, senior homeowners can save $320 for single-family homes and $150 for multi-family dwellings and mobile homes. This is a new tax, so everyone must apply to receive the discount even if they received other school district parcel tax exemptions last year. Measure C also has an exemption for Supplemental Security Income recipients, regardless of age. The filing deadline is June 15.

For CFD #1, senior homeowners can save approximately $87 for single-family homes and approximately $43 for multi-family dwellings and mobile homes. The filing deadline is June 15.
