A registered sex offender was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of peeping into a woman’s apartment, Davis police said.

Lt. Paul Doroshov said officers were conducting foot patrols at the Olive Court Apartments, 1414 Olive Drive, at about midnight when they spotted a man looking through the window of one of the apartment units. He was detained while trying to flee on a bicycle.

Doroshov identified the suspect as 48-year-old Ronald Jake Herrera, a resident of the same apartment complex.

“The room Herrera was peeking into was occupied by an 18-year-old female,” Doroshov said. Herrera was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of peeping and obstructing police officers.

Herrera has previously been convicted of rape by force and sexual battery, according to the California Megan’s Law website, http://www.meganslaw.ca.gov. The website does not say when or where those convictions occurred.
