Sheep labor

By From page A1 | November 02, 2012

A flock of sheep graze Thursday on the city of Davis’ South Fork Putah Creek Preserve, keeping the weeds and grass down and making it unnecessary to spray herbicide or mow the property, according to Martin Guerena, the city’s integrative pest management specialist. The sheep are owned by livestock rancher John Hays, who lives outside Winters. They’ll be munching on the preserve for a couple of months, Guerena says. Sue Cockrell/Enterprise photo
