Sign up for women’s history luncheon by Feb. 28

The Yolo County Women’s History Month Committee is making final arrangements for the 27th annual Women’s History Month luncheon. The deadline for reservations and payment is Friday, Feb. 28. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

The 2014 national Women’s History Month theme is “Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment.” The luncheon will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Woodland Community & Senior Center, 2001 East St. in Woodland.

Yolo County women to be honored at the event are Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, mayor of Winters and principal in a management consulting firm; Paula Lorenzo-Tackett, Capay Valley restaurateur and former chair of the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation; Ann Foley Scheuring of Rumsey, a longtime community volunteer and author of scholarly works on California agriculture and UC Davis history; and Nikki Shannon Smith of Woodland, a children’s book author and principal of Patwin Elementary School in Davis.

The cost of the luncheon is $25. Checks should be payable to WHM and mailed to P.O. Box 711, Woodland, CA 95776. Credit card payments may be made online at www.ycwhm.org. Proceeds from the luncheon are used to purchase women’s history materials for public libraries in Yolo County.
