Picture this: Four gentlemen in matching outfits walk into your home, office or place of business and announce that they are delivering a singing valentine. They hand the recipient a nicely wrapped flower and a personalized valentine card.
Then, they sing two love songs in four-part barbershop harmony (such as “Let Me Call You Sweetheart”) to that lucky person. Everyone in attendance ends up with a warm, fuzzy feeling.
This can be a great gift idea for your sweetheart, your parents or special friend. Quartet members from the West Valley Chorus say they have delivered valentines to as many men as women over the years.
Some unusual past engagements have included singing for a hard hat-wearing sheet metal worker in his shop, a police officer on the job, a woman enjoying a pedicure, a 93-year-old man, many school classrooms and to an entire group of employees from their boss.
Retirement home residents and shut-ins also especially enjoy receiving a singing valentine, a quartet spokesman says.
Singing valentines cost $40 each and will be delivered in Davis, Winters, Woodland, Dixon, Vacaville, Fairfield and Suisun City. The singing valentines will be delivered Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11-12, and Tuesday, Feb. 14. Early booking is advised, as popular times go quickly.
