Smartphone demonstration planned Monday

Thinking about getting a new do-it-all smartphone but don’t know which way to turn? Get some answers at 1 p.m. Monday at a demonstration of new smartphones for the Woodland Senior Center Computer Club. The meeting is at the Woodland Community & Senior Center, 2001 East St., and is free and open to the general public.

Christopher Crone, a Woodland resident and information systems coordinator for Yolo County, will be the speaker. The U.S. Air Force veteran has expertise in most operating systems, hardware and peripherals, including Blackberry, iPhone, iPad and Android-based tablets.

Crone has offered to teach a class on the subject if there is sufficient interest. A sign-up book is available at the senior desk at the center for that purpose if prospective students are unable to attend the demonstration.

Light refreshments will be served after an informal question-and-answer session.

Members will be asked to vote on prospective changes to the corporation’s bylaws if there is a quorum, and final changes can be incorporated in time for a vote. The club’s board of directors will hold its usual meeting following the program and vote.

Questions may be referred to the message machine at 530-662-9598 if not covered on the club’s website, www.wsccc.com.
