Calling all artists! June 1 is the deadline to enter the 10th annual sunflower art competition sponsored by NAMI-Yolo, the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental illness.
The competition is open to people of all ages and abilities. Artwork must be delivered to the Davis Art Center, 1919 F St., between 2 and 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, May 31 and June 1. If other arrangements are needed, call Marilyn Moyle at (530) 756-8475 or leave a message at (530) 756-8181.
All artwork will be on display June 4-21 at the Art Center. A reception, with Yolo County Supervisor Jim Provenza as master of ceremonies, will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9. Prizes will be awarded then, including the William Albrecht Mental Health Educator Award, a $400 prize given to an educator who uses the sunflower art to educate his or her students about mental health issues.
Details and entry forms for this prize and for all categories of the competition are available at the Art Center and online at www.namisunflowers.org.
