Soroptimist International of Greater Davis recently presented a donation to Montgomery Elementary School Principal Sally Plicka to purchase needed school supplies.

Local Soroptimists, led by President Grace Starkovich and Service Chair Cathy Gonzales, decided to donate funds in lieu of giving holiday gifts at their Christmas party. Funds were given to Montgomery School and sent to Hurricane Sandy victims in Staten Island, N.Y.

Soroptimists also issued a challenge to Davis residents and service organizations to donate to Montgomery for school supplies and books, noting that teachers often have to purchase supplies out of their own pockets.
