The city of Davis Community Services Department presents “Spin Pop Boom,” an educational science presentation, at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Veterans’ Memorial Theater, 203 E. 14th St. in Davis.
The event features experiments in physics and chemistry, from volcanic reactions to spinning centrifugal-force demonstrations.
Guests also will learn about the physical forces and molecular interactions in what they see every day. They’ll observe how chemical reactions make foam shoot up in the air and how a hand appears to grow. Finally, they’ll watch as a swirl of steam, like a genie, dances out of a bottle.
“All of these demonstrations allow us to quietly slip in some lessons in basic science,” organizers said in a news release.
Tickets are $7 general and $5 for children, available in advance at the Community Services Department, 600 A St., Suite C; The Avid Reader, 607 Second St.; Armadillo Music, 205 F St. (a service charge applies); and the Hallmark Inn, 110 F St. Tickets at the door, for all ages, will be $8.
