St. James hosts blood drive Sunday

By From page A4 | January 09, 2013

Local residents can give the gift of life by donating blood at a drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the St. James Catholic Church Memorial Center, 1275 B St. in Davis.

Donating blood is safe, easy and takes about an hour. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be generally healthy and be at least 17 years old (16 with a signed BloodSource Parental consent form found at bloodsource.org, click on schools). There is no upper age limit for blood donations.

Donors between the ages of 18 and 60 also are invited to join the Be the Match marrow registry at no cost. This simple process involves paperwork, a quick swab of the inside of the cheek and a good-faith commitment to help someone in need.

For more information about blood donation and marrow registry, visit bloodsource.org or call 866-822-5663. Walk-ins at Sunday’s drive are welcome.
