St. James School Choir headed to Disneyland

By From page A7 | February 28, 2014

The St. James School Choir has been selected to perform at Disneyland’s California Adventure in April. This opportunity, through the Disney Performing Arts program, was earned through a competitive process and audition last spring.

Sixty-four students — including 36 elementary and 22 junior high singers, plus six rhythm section players — will perform April 21-22. As part of this experience, the choir also will participate in a vocal tracks recording workshop hosted by the Disneyland performing arts staff.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our young performers,” said choir director Mike Schwagerus. “They’ve been working hard all year and will represent our school community well.”

The choir is continuing to fundraise to help cover the cost for student travel. To help, look for the “World’s Finest” chocolate bars at the choir’s Farmers Market booth this Saturday and next.

St. James students come from Davis, Woodland, Winters, Dixon and surrounding communities. For more information on the St James School Choir and how to help, call Schwagerus at 530-756-3946.
