Stonegate sidewalk safety discussed at meeting

By From page A4 | February 26, 2012

Stonegate residents will meet Monday evening with city officials to discuss Lake Boulevard sidewalk safety hazards caused by the roots of stone pine trees. The meeting will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Stonegate Country Club, 919 Lake Blvd.

The bike path and sidewalk on the west side of Lake Boulevard between Marina Circle and the country club entrance has been closed due to unsafe conditions.

Public Works Department staffers will present several remedial plans along with the pros and cons of each option. According to a news release, each proposal will consider the city’s responsibility for the public’s safety, servicing the urban forest and maintaining a complete and accessible network of bicycle and pedestrian paths in Davis.

Attendees then will have the opportunity to comment on the various options or suggest alternatives. Written comments also can be submitted on provided forms.

Input on the future of the path and trees will be forwarded to the Davis City Council for action. For more information, call the Public Works Department at (530) 757-5686.
