		<description><![CDATA[I don&#039;t yet have a strong opinion one way or the other on “Stan, the Submerging Man.” However, I think it evokes a whimsy which I appreciate. Certainly my favorite Davis sculptor, and one of my favorite sculptors from anywhere, is Robert Arneson. What made Arneson so unique was the humor and playfulness and cheeriness of so much of his work. Arneson was a genius at finding the fun in a lot of ordinary topics. One of his best was the multi-part clay sculpture of his house at the corner of Alice Street and L Street in East Davis. You can see some pictures of that work here:

		<description><![CDATA[I admire the artists for their work and the courageous choices they&#039;ve made, and appreciate the support of the Cultural Action Committee, the Natsoulas Center and the downtown merchants.  Together, this is what keeps art alive, interesting and inspiring.  If the arrogance and bigotry expressed by &quot;classically trained&quot; Sam are any indication of his &quot;realist&quot; art, I&#039;m guessing it&#039;s mediocre.]]></description>
