Sustainable living speaker series starts Wednesday

By April 22, 2011

The UC Davis California Student Sustainable Coalition will present a seminar series this spring as part of the Education for Sustainable Living Program. Educators, authors, environmentalists and progressive thinkers will speak from 4:10 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, April 27 through May 25, in Room 1002 at Giedt Hall on the UC Davis campus.

The collaborative, interdisciplinary effort aims to develop a sustainable community throughout the entire University of California system, where the course is taught at each campus, and beyond.

This year’s speakers include Micah Posner, the founder of People Power, a community bike organization, on Wednesday; Chris Jones, author of a carbon footprint calculator at http://www.coolcalifornia.org, on May 4; Josiah Cain, educator and partner at Design Ecology, Designing and Implementing Living Walls and Roofs, on May 11; Greywater Action Educators, Designers, Engineers and Artists on May 18; and Davis author Kim Stanley Robinson, speaking on post-capitalism, on May 25.
