Swami Ishwarananda of Chinmaya Mission in Los Angeles will speak about Hindu philosophy when he visits Davis on Sunday. His free talk will run from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Fireside Room at Davis Community Church, 412 C St. All are welcome.

The swami is a resident acharya or minister at the Chinmaya Mission, a worldwide organization with centers across the United States and the world.

Ishwarananda will discuss and explain a simple text called “Upadesha Sara,” written by Raman Maharshi from South India. The title means “Essence of Guiding Principles” and the text explains essential teachings of Hindu philosophy in a simple, easy-to-understand manner.

“One can apply these teachings in one’s daily life to achieve a more harmonious and blissful life,” a news release said. “These teachings do not focus on any religion but are applicable universally to all of us.”
