Take a walk on Quail Ridge Reserve

By February 24, 2011

Quail Ridge Wilderness Conservancy will take visitors on an early spring walk from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Quail Ridge Reserve. The reserve is on a peninsula at the southwest end of Lake Berryessa.

The walk on scenic hillsides of California native grasses, shrubs and trees is of easy to moderate difficulty and will be led by Frank Maurer, a zoologist and ecologist and executive director of the conservancy.

Visitors should dress in layers and bring binoculars, a camera, drinking water and a snack.

Call (530) 219-4477 or (530) 758-1387 in advance to reserve a place and to get directions. The group will meet at 2:20 p.m. at Markley Cove Resort and will return at about 6 p.m. All participants must leave the reserve at the same time.

The tour is free but donations are welcome.
