Sacramento poets Margaret Hoehn and Josh McKinney will be the guests at The Other Voice poetry gathering, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, in the library at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis, 27074 Patwin Road. Refreshments and open mic follow the reading, so bring a poem or two to share.
Hoehn practiced law for many years. She spent a decade volunteering with a hospice and now volunteers with a medical library conducting literature searches. Her poetry has appeared in Bellingham Review, Georgetown Review, Nimrod, North American Review, Verse Daily and many other journals and anthologies.
She is the author of five chapbooks and a full-length book. Legal Studies Forum published her collected works in 2009. Most recently, her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Atlanta Review, Naugatuck River Review, The W.B. Yeats Society of NY website, and “Late Peaches,” an anthology of Sacramento poets.
McKinney, who teaches at Sacramento State, is the author of two poetry chapbooks: “Permutations of the Gallery,” winner of the 1996 Pavement Saw Chapbook contest, and his most recent book, “Mad Cursive” (Wordcraft of Oregon, 2012). His work has appeared journals such as Colorado Review, Denver Quarterly, The Kenyon Review, New American Writing and Ploughshares. He is co-editor of the online poetry journal, Clade Song.
