Julie Morrow of the Sacramento Steam Punk Society gives a cancer survivor medal Saturday morning to Roy Engoron of Davis. At left is Robert Chung of Davis, also a survivor. The medal ceremony was part of the opening festivities for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, a 24-hour fundraising walk held on the track at Emerson Junior High School in West Davis. Relay chairwoman Gina von Damm Bogart reported a record number of teams entered this year (17), significantly more than in the past three years of the event. She also said the fundraising numbers are on track to put the event well above previous years. Wayne Tilcock/Enterprise photo
