Tour de Cluck makes a call for coops

By From page A3 | February 16, 2014

Tour de Cluck, Davis’ favorite fowl-fashioned bike tour, returns on May 24, offering the chicken lovers and chicken curious among us the opportunity to tour a variety of Davis backyard chicken coops. This will be the fifth year for the Tour de Cluck event.

The Tour de Cluck is seeking coops for this year’s tour. Davis residents who are interested in having their chicken coop featured on the tour may contact Tabari Lucas at [email protected] for an application in PDF format. Fill out the application form and return it by Friday, Feb. 20.

The coops selected will be presented as a self-guided tour in neighborhood clusters — “coop loops,” if you will — with most having easy access to the Davis Bicycle Loop. In addition to an exceptional variety of coop styles and chicken breeds, each coop loop will include the added feature of a backyard chicken expert to provide information for those interested in taking the poultry plunge.

The tour will benefit Yolo Farm to Fork and Davis Farm to School’s work to support local food in a healthy school environment.
