Tour de Cluck returns May 25 with changes in the henhouse

By From page A7 | January 15, 2013

With the beginning of the new year comes the beginning of chicken season in Davis.

The Davis Cluck Council will collaborate to create the fourth annual Tour de Cluck on Saturday, May 25. As Jake Clemens slips into her new role as Mother Hen Emeritus, she says event-goers shouldn’t notice the difference.

“We have been planning for this transition since the first successful event in 2010,” Clemens said. “The success was an incredible surprise and put us on notice that we were on to something.”

Joining Bob Bowen, Dave “DK” Kemp, Alan Humason, Randii Macnear and Dorothy Peterson on the council are Shelly Gilbride representing the Davis Art Center and Neil Ruud from The Centaur Group.

Neil Ruud has taken on the role of “Roostermeister,” and is coordinating the council. Davis’s favorite chicken-centric celebration will continue all previous aspects of the event along with some top-secret, exciting additions.
