Garamendi should be ousted from public office one year from now, on November 6, 2012. The Garamendi family has enriched themselves at public expense. UC Davis students pay higher fees because of the Garamendi family. How did John Garamendi, Jr. get a $216,000 a year U.C. job when he was just 34 or 35 years old? Did the name "John Garamendi, Jr." have nothing to do with it? What exactly did Garamendi, Sr. do when he worked as "Washington, DC investment partner" for the Yucaipa Companies from 1998 to 2001? How much was he paid? Garamendi needs also to explain his role in the shady Exec Life insurance scandal in the 90's, which is linked to his lucrative job at Yucaipa. Look at this expose in Forbes magazine in 1999 - http://www.forbes.com/global/1999/1227/0226024a.html
Dump Garamendi - the career politician!

One more note about Garamendi lying, saying his "front yard" was in District 10, when he knew it was not. Channel 2 in the Bay Area looked into the matter with the Sec. of State's office after Garamendi's lie became a controversy in the campaign. The Sec. of State confirmed that Garamendi had lied, that he could not vote for himself, because he lives in Dan Lundgren's district.

What seems strange, still, is the fact that Garamendi is being touted as the likely next representative of Davis and other parts of our new Congressional district, in large part because of his residence in this district. Clearly, Garamendi fans would not be touting him for our new district if he lived in Weed or in Yucaipa. They are foisting Garamendi almost entirely because he is in Congress and because he is a resident of this new district. So it seems to Garamendi's fans that his residence outside of District 10 did not matter to them; but his residence inside our prospective district does. They don't seem to be consistent positions.

In my view, the only thing that matters about his residence is that he kept lying about it. That doesn't seem to be a characteristic you would want in your new Congressman.

I'm also concerned that Garamendi is yet another tool of the unions and the rapacious trial lawyers. The employee groups funded his 2010 campaign to the tune of $250,000; the trial lawyers invested $207,000 in Garamendi.

You think those special interests don't expect him to reward them with laws against our country's general interest? You think Garamendi is ever going to favor truly competitive bidding on infrastructure projects when the unions own him? You think he will ever favor a common sense measure like "loser pays" when the trial lawyers put him in his seat?

"Garamendi never lied about his residence."

Oh, yes he did lie. In fact, he lied about it in multiple interviews. He kept claiming that his front yard--keep in mind he owns a very large estate in Walnut Grove--was in district 10, but his bedroom was not. He knew all along he was lying:

"nor is there a residency requirement for congress to reside in the district."

I never said there was a residency requirement. Why are you changing the subject? It sounds like you feel the fact that Garamendi lied will hurt him? I recall you were the one who claimed, wrongly as it turned out, that Garamendi Junior would defeat Lois Wolk for the state senate. It sounds like you have some secretive connection to the Garamendis? I cannot imagine why else, when he has lied as he has, you would come to defend him and, strangely, refute what is clearly true about his bad record.

Rich: Garamendi never lied about his residence, nor is there a residency requirement for congress to reside in the district. Observe McClintock was a resident of SOCAL and yet won up in Northern California.

Budd: That's wishful thinking on your part.
