Lucy Corin and Yiyun Li, both in the English department at UC Davis, will present their new books from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at The Lounge in the Memorial Union Store on the UCD campus.
This free presentation is open to the public will be followed by a question-and-answer period and a book-signing.
Corin’s “One Hundred Apocalypses and Other Apocalypses,” looks at a variety of story lines — from of the end of a relationship or the end of the world — and exposes an individual’s longing for a clean slate. Corin was named the new program director of the Creative Writing Program at UCD after Pam Houston stepped down after spring quarter 2013.
A profound mystery is at the heart of Li’s “Kinder than solitude.” Moving back and forth in time, between America today and China in the 1990s, the novel follows the lives of three people whose are changed by a murder one of them may have committed. Li unfolds this remarkable story, even as she explores the impact of personality and the past on the shape of a person’s present and future.
