Bechara Choucair, commissioner of the Chicago Department of Public Health, is set to give a free public talk about transforming the health of a community at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 in the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center auditorium, at 4501 X St. in Sacramento.

Choucair will highlight his experiences in establishing a coalition of public agencies, private companies, nonprofit organizations, service providers and neighborhood groups to improve health-care access and outcomes for Chicago’s urban residents, according to a news release.

A 5 p.m. reception is scheduled to precede the lecture, which is part of the 2013 UCD Health System Snively visiting professorship in family and community medicine.

Reservations may be made by sending an email message to snively@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu.
