The new director of the UC Davis MIND Institute, Leonard Abbeduto, will open the annual “Behind the MIND” speaker series with a talk about his vision for the institute’s future at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20.
Abbeduto oversees more than 250 faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students researching and treating neurological disorders, including autism and fragile X syndrome, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
His own research focuses on the behavioral growth of individuals with intellectual disabilities, particularly their development and use of language.
The MIND Institute is at 2825 50th St. in Sacramento. The resource center will be open to the public from 4:30 p.m., when a reception will be held, to 5:30 p.m., and then for 30 minutes following the presentation. Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the institute for $3 after 5 p.m. On-street parking is free.
