Gunrock goes ‘Gangnam Style’
Not to be left out of the global “Gangnam Style” craze, UC Davis has checked in with a parody of its own.
You guessed it: “Gunrock style.”
Checking in at a little less than four minutes, the YouTube video features the blue UCD mascot making like South Korean rapper Psy at the Student Farm, a dining hall, Shields Library, inside a Unitrans bus, at Aggie Stadium and in front of the Mondavi Center, among other campus locales.
Gamely dancing along — with varying degrees of success — are Aggie athletes, firefighters, the dance and cheer team, the Cal Aggie Marching Band-uh and the MK Modern Dance Team, among others.
There are also dairy cows, who seem not the least bit impressed with Psy’s silly steps.
Gunrock finishes to a round of applause from a packed chemistry lecture hall.
Posted Oct. 4, the UCD video — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUklhkoCOkk — has garnered more than 43,000 hits.
Gunrock has his work cut out for him, however. Psy’s sticks-in-your-brain-and-won’t-leave single — No. 2 on the U.S. and British charts — has piled up more than 413 million views and counting on YouTube.
