The third annual Davis Shakespeare Festival will open this summer at the UC Davis Arboretum Gazebo, featuring Shakespeare’s play about the triumph of one of Britain’s most legendary kings: Henry V.

Attendees “will see valiant heroism up close as the worldly King Henry rallies his outnumbered army to defeat France on its home turf,” a news release said.

The ensemble will create an “intimately suspenseful experience,” reducing the traditionally epic scale of the play to fit the five actors of the Davis Shakespeare Ensemble.

The ensemble is a nonprofit organization that presents classical productions and educational programs to the Davis and greater Sacramento community.

The Arboretum Gazebo is on Garrod Drive at UCD. The show will run June 14-July 1, with performances at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 6:30 p.m. Sundays.

Opening night features a $5 discount for all tickets. The regular ticket price is $15 general, $12 for students and seniors and $10 for children age 12 and under.
