A lecture scheduled for Wednesday at UC Davis by Hamid Dabashi, a Columbia University professor of Iranian studies, has been canceled.

Dabashi cannot make the trip for health reasons, according to UCD. He was to appear as part of the Chancellor’s Colloquium Distinguished Speaker Series.

The remaining speakers on this year’s schedule are choreographer and dancer Stephen Petrino, who will speak at 4 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Mondavi Center, and Henry Jenkins, a professor of communication, journalism and cinematic arts who studies the effects of participatory culture on society, politics and learning. Jenkins’ talk is planned for 4 p.m. May 1 at the Activities and Recreation Center.
