Nancy Pelosi, Democratic leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, will deliver the commencement address for UC Davis School of Law on May 17 at the Mondavi Center.

“I am delighted that Leader Pelosi has agreed to give the commencement address,” said Dean Kevin Johnson in a news release on Wednesday. “Our graduates will benefit greatly from hearing her perspective as a groundbreaking leader on the national stage … I know she will deliver a powerful and inspiring message.”

Pelosi, D-San Francisco, served as speaker of the House from 2007 to 2011, the only woman to have been elected to the post. She has served in Congress since 1987 and for the last decade has led her party in the House.
