UCD vet students win ultrasound machine

The Cow-lifornia Girls are winners.

A music video set to the tune of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” has earned enough votes to win the UC Davis Food Animal and Reproductive Medicine Club a new portable ultrasound sound machine valued at more than $10,000.

The veterinary medicine students beat out five other entries in the finals of the national contest, put on by the machine’s maker, BCF Technology. To advance, FARM Club members took part in a photo round and submitted a written article for judging.

As the only California finalist, the club marshaled the support not just of the School of Veterinary Medicine, but the California Beef Council’s Beef Checkoff¬†program and the California Veterinary Medical Association. The students also received a lift from local, regional and national media coverage.
