Ukrainian Festival planned in Davis

The Ukrainian Heritage Club of Northern California will present its annual Ukrainian Festival from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Veterans’ Memorial Center, 203 E. 14th St. in Davis.

The event begins with a Ukrainian arts and crafts exhibit in the lobby of the Vets’ Memorial Theater, including costumes from different regions of the country, Ukrainian embroidery and beadwork, Ukrainian Easter eggs and musical instruments.

At 3 p.m., a program of modern and folk music will begin, including performances of dance and bandura ensembles. Tickets are $15 general and $10 for students and seniors, with children under 10 admitted free.

Refreshments follow at 5 p.m., preceding a Ukrainian dinner at 6 p.m. (tickets are $10 per person) and a free Ukrainian dance party at 7 p.m.

The Ukrainian Heritage Club of Northern California is a group of Californians enthusiastic about Ukrainian culture and traditions. Since its inception 30 years ago, the club offered and supported Ukrainian cultural activities including movies, concerts, dances and special celebrations dealing with Ukrainian themes.
