VetMerge, a veterinary mission group based in the Davis area, will host a fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at University Covenant Church, 315 Mace Blvd.
The event will feature a dessert buffet, silent auction and presentations about past and upcoming trips.
Since 2003, VetMerge has sent veterinarians, veterinary students and pre-veterinary students to Mexico, Honduras, Thailand, Cameroon, Central African Republic and the Navajo reservation in New Mexico. No-cost or low-cost veterinary care is provided to companion animals, horses, poultry and livestock in areas that otherwise may not have ready access to a veterinarian.
Some trips have expanded in scope to include physicians, agriculturists and other professionals.
VetMerge is a Christian faith-based organization that partners with churches in other countries to support their ministry within their communities.
VetMerge relies predominantly on donations to support its mission. The upcoming fundraiser will help cover costs for VetMerge trips taken during 2011, including one trip to Mexico this past March and upcoming trips to Mexico, Honduras, Cameroon/Kenya and the Navajo reservation.
The suggested admission price is $10 per person, $5 per student and $25 per family.
