Videos help frame Mideast peace challenges

By From page A4 | January 17, 2014

Is peace possible?

That is the question asked in four short videos, to be screened at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, in the Social Hall at Congregation Bet Haverim, 1715 Anderson Road in Davis.

Israel Peace Alternatives will present this special report on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, created by The Atlantic and the S. Daniel Abraham Center for Middle East Peace, in the form of four 13-minute videos.

The four videos — on borders, security, Jerusalem and refugees — put viewers at the negotiating table. Drawing on the collective wisdom of former negotiators and military officials, politicians and legal scholars, architects and urban planners, the videos lay out the genuine concerns of both sides, determine the real obstacles to achieving peace, and explore potential solutions to these seemingly intractable challenges.

This event is free and open to the public and is co-sponsored by J Street Davis. For more information, visit www.ispeacepossible.com, www.jstreet.org or www.bethaverim.org.
