It’s time to vote for your favorite recipe submission in “The Davis Farmers Market Cookbook” contest. Six entries are posted online at www.davisfarmersmarketcookbook.com, along with photos and information from entrants about the dish they cooked.
They are Planked Salmon and Zucchini Gratin, by Connie Taxiera; Creamy Grits with Collard Greens and Wild Mushrooms, by Heather Feenstra; The Perfect Pickle, by Rayne Pegg; Pears with Blue Cheese, Walnuts and Honey, by Denise Cornejo; Lamb Shanks with Dried Fruit, by Joyce Hardi; and Onion and Mushroom Tart, by Patricia Howard.
Online voting at that site ends Friday, Jan. 4.
“The Davis Farmers Market Cookbook,” released in April by Mirabelle Press, is the recipient of two national awards — first place in the 2012 Writers Digest Book Awards and first place in the Regional Cookbook category for the Indie Awards of Book Excellence.
Authored by locals Ann M. Evans of Davis, co-founder of the Davis Farmers Market, and Georgeanne Brennan of Winters, a James Beard and Julia Child award winner, the book is organized by season and illustrated with photos by Craig Lee of farmers, the market, and, of course, the food and recipes.
“The Davis Farmers Market Cookbook” is available at local retailers and on Amazon.com.
