“Walk with the Hawk” is the theme of the annual Patwin Elementary School Walkathon and Silent Auction, planned for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the school, 2222 Shasta Drive. The event is the school PTA’s primary fundraiser, and organizers hope to raise more than $20,000 this year to support a variety of school programs.

“This event brings out the whole school, including staff, teachers, students, their families and friends,” said Leslie Blevins, PTA vice president. “There will be activities for everyone. We love that our major school fundraiser is focused around health and fitness for our school and our community.”

The walkathon is on a quarter-mile course from campus to Arroyo Pool and back. Principal Nikki Smith and the Patwin staff will be on hand to cheer on the students as they do their laps.

There’s entertainment galore, as well: The Cal Aggie Marching Band-uh will lead the first lap, Baciarini’s Martial Arts will provide demonstrations and Rocknasium will bring its climbing wall. There also will be free face-painting and the popular cake walk. Also back by popular demand is the dunk tank, where there may be the opportunity to dunk your favorite teacher.

In addition to the walkathon, a silent auction will take place in the multipurpose room, featuring getaways, experiences and family fun. Auction items may be previewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and the auction will run from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
