Walk through Quail Ridge Reserve on May 17

By
From page A4 | May 09, 2014 |

Local residents are invited to take an interpretive walk on the Quail Ridge Reserve from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 17. Frank Maurer, executive director of the conservancy, will lead the walk, pointing out highlights about wildlife and native inhabitants of the Lake Berryessa peninsula.

Hikers should bring binoculars, a camera, drinking water and a snack. The reserve will still be green during this month and late-season wildflowers may be seen. Toward dusk, walkers will listen for bats with a special ultrasonic device and for owls.

Walkers will gather at 2:15 p.m. at Markley Cove Resort on Lake Berryessa and will return at about 6 p.m. The walk will be canceled only in the event of rain.

To reserve a spot and get directions, call 530-219-4477.
